How to Identify Swine Flu?
Swine flu Vs Common Cold- Fever
- Headache
- Cough
- Sore Throat
- Body Aches
However in some cases the swine flu may cause more discomfort. Patients could complain of nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, which are not typical symptoms of Influenza or Flu. People over 65, children under age 8 and anyone with a chronic medical condition are more susceptible to the virus.

Mechanism of Action of OSELTAMIVIR(TEMIFLU)
It inhibits neuraminidase, which is a glycoprotein on the surface of influenza virus that destroys an infected cell's receptor for viral hemagglutinin.
By inhibiting viral neuraminidase, this agent decreases the release of viruses from infected cells and, thus, viral spread.

sir,
it is indeed a great social service to alert and spread awareness among the general public about the scary pandemic -swine flu- which is creating panic in india and the world over. educating the public is the need of the hour. medical researchers around the world should be able to create a preventive vaccine against this pestilence soon enough.the world has enough scientific know-how.we have conquered cancer and contained AIDS as well.so let us be positive and let us not press the panic button.

OSELTAMIVIR (TEMIFLU) is currently not available in MEDICAL STORES. It is only available at Government HOSPITALS after thorough analysis and advise by expert.
if a person has fever use only PARACETAMOL in appropriate dosages.Drink plenty of water. Take rest.

Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) is available ONLY in govt hospitals which is essential to monitor the use and prevent abuse of Tamiflu as the drug is not without side effects and excessive use will hasten the development of drug resistance. God forbid - If that happens , there will be no drug available for treatment

There is a sudden increase in the death toll across India and it has touched 50. do you think that the swine flu has reached its peak and may taper off in the coming weeks or the virus is going to turn more virulent

The test applied usually are PCR which detects antigen(say part of virus)hence once you clear up infection completely you should be negative.

It is said Swine flue last for 7 days. If proper rest and treatment is done at home, after 7 days does the virus disappear or will it be in the body. Once it disappers, will it repeat? Can any one through some light on this.

Period of 7 days is COMMUNICABILITY of virus, means the person remains infective to others till then. The body by the time of 7 days develops IMMUNITY & kills the virus. So if simillar virus enters again from others the person donot develop DISEASE.

AS PER GOVT.OF INDIA GUIDELINES (LATEST)
* Patients with mild fever plus cough / sore throat with or without body ache, headache, diarrhoea and vomiting will be categorised as Category-A. They do not require Oseltamivir and should be treated for the symptoms mentioned above. The patients should be monitored for their progress and reassessed at 24 to 48 hours by the doctor.
* No testing of the patient for H1N1 is required.
* Patients should confine themselves at home and avoid mixing up with public and high risk members in the family.
SO DO NOT PANIC....

What will we poor Indians do if the flu virus sweeps the country swiftly but dangerously? Shall we just continue praying that the good God would perhaps save us through his grace? Blood, where to test, drugs, where to get, vaccines, how to procure...... These are some questions which seem so difficult to answer for a remote state like ours. Kindly help.
