July 18th Update: 17 new cases
Seventeen new laboratory confirmed cases have been reported today: Delhi (7), Pune (5), Cochin (2), Trivandrum (1), Calicut (1) and Goa (1) taking the total number infected in the country to 285.Out of the seven cases in Delhi one is an 11 month old male child who travelled from New York by Jet Airways 14th July. He reported with fever and cough on 16th July to the identified health facility where he is admitted.
The second case in Delhi is a 36 year old male who also travelled from New York reaching Delhi on 9th July 2009. He reported with symptoms of fever and body-ache on 16th July.
The third case (14 year old male) and the fourth case (10 year old male) are brothers who are contacts of an earlier reported positive case in Delhi and reported with fever and cough on 16th July 2009.
The fifth (9 years old female) and sixth cases (2 and half year of female) are sisters and are contact cases of earlier reported positive case in Delhi and reported with fever and cough on 16th July 2009.
The seventh case is a 16 year old female who is a contact case of an earlier reported positive case in Delhi. She reported with cough and sore-throat on 16th July.
In Pune, all five cases (three 13 year old female children, one 13 year old male child and one 12 year old female child) are contacts of an earlier reported positive case in Pune. All of them reported with fever, running nose and sore-throat on 18th July 2009.
In Cochin, one of the two cases is a 9 year old male travelling from London transiting DOHA reaching Cochin on 17th July 2009 and as he was having symptoms of fever and sore-throat he was detected during the health screening and was admitted to the identified health facility. The other case is a 41 year old male passenger who travelled from Doha reaching Cochin on 16th July.
The case in Trivandrum is a ten year old female child who travelled from U.K transiting Dubai reaching Trivandrum on 16th July.
The case in Calicut is a 15 year old female who travelled from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia reaching Calicut on 16th July.
The case in Goa is a 20 year old male who travelled from Frankfurt, Germany transiting Mumbai and reaching Goa on 14th July
1506 persons have been tested so far out of which 285 are positive for Influenza A H1N1 [Swine]. 441 out of the 1506 persons have been identified through entry screening, one hundred and seventy two through contact tracing and the rest were self reported.
Of the 285 positive cases, 178 have been discharged. Rest of them remain admitted to the identified health facilities.
