August 12th Update: 115 New Cases

One hundred and fifteen positive cases have been reported In India today. This is the second consecitive three-digit rise in swine flu cases. The total number of deaths is now 17. Mumbai has taken the extreme step of shutting down public places to contain the virus.

Ahmadabad 4

All the 61 cases reported from Pune are local cases. In Mumbai 24 indigenous cases are reported during the day. The three (26/M, 30/M, 13/M) reported from Kolkata are also indigenous cases.

In Shillong, Meghalaya, one 17 year old male has a travel history to U.K.

In Bangalore, all of the 10 cases are local cases with no foreign travel history.

Goa has reported one local case [15/F] with no foreign travel history.

All the eight cases in Delhi are local cases.

Three local cases with no foreign travel history are also reported in Hyderabad city.

The total number of positive cases in the country rises to 1193. The number of cured cases stands at 589.
