Swine Flu India - Mapping the Infection

Click on the red marker on each city to find out more details. Click Here For Testing centers for each city. This map shows statewise and citywise swine flu infections in India.
Loading the map may take some time, please wait

Please note that the numbers above do not account the infections for August 20th since we did not receive the update for that day from the health ministry. Also note that the government is not testing all suspected cases. The numbers above are of infections only when a doctor decides to send a patient's sample to a testing center.

The map shows infections as on 25th August. We have stopped receiving citywise infomation from the health ministry. We will be changing the map to show infections and deaths by each state shortly.

Mahesh from Goa on 20-Aug-2009 11:18
The total number of cases in Goa is just 17. Should not be a problem. Anyways you will not catch the infection when you move around in well ventilated areas such as a beach. You should be fine. Welcome to Goa

As of now the panic has completely disappeared. There is hardly anyone talking about the virus these days. And also if you notice the updates on this site, the number of cases everyday is negligible. In fact, I think comparatively Goa is a far safer place when it comes to swine flu. About places to visit, its difficult to say because there are so many. Since this is a swine flu site, lets not discuss travel plans here. Try http://www.indiamike.com/. This is a travel website and should help you.

Sir,

Has nobody tested positive for swine flu today as is claimed by the health authorities? The figures on the site also seem to suggest the same.

It would then mean that the situation is under control.

@TRS, We have not received any updates for 20th August from the health ministry's website. They usually send us an update by 20:30.

Hopefully, it is because of no new cases. However a few newspapers are reporting about 10 deaths today.

Swine Flu India from Bangalore on 22-Aug-2009 10:24
The health ministry's website did not post any updates on 20th and hence no numbers were available. We now know that there were 158 cases on 20th and 138 cases on 21th August.

It is the responsibility of the Health Ministry at the cetre to furnish daily swine flue updates through the media . This is not being done. When the outbreak fist strated we had tv channels like cnn.ibn, times now, headlines today going overboard with heavy sound bites. Now even these channels are not even including a daily update in their hourly news. Your website is doing a great service and I compliment you for it.

Why karnataka's death ratio is more while compared to other states (other than Maharashtra, but the infections are more than 1500 here). Out of 392 infections, 23 deaths counted and Gujarat 7 out of 92.

It seems infected people did not get proper treatment over these places or delay in identifying the infection. Government must have to take necessary actions to control the deaths. (may be by increasing the testing centers and hospitals in these areas)

The risk of getting any viral infection in DOMESTIC OR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT or an ordinary bus remains same till we donot practice COUGH ETIQUATES(covering one’s mouth and nose while coughing/sneezing and avoiding spitting in the open)& hand washing are important and very effective in containing spread of the virus.
do not touch eyes or nose without washing hands.

Yesterday I happened to see japanese TV showing program on swine flue. They have almost 1 lakh patients affected with swine flue.only 5 dead. Their palnning was to tackle a situation where all population are affected. But in India there is no planning to tackle such a situation and mortality rate is ver high compared to developed countries we depend on proper message and plan and advice throgh media

Thanks for the valuable updated information. Indian medical Association or Indian society of Critical Care medicine or Association of Physicians of India or Indian Academy of Pediatrics or all bodies joining together should collect more information on affected patients and mortality. This will throw more light for the medical profession regarding risk factors, early identification as well as to plan the future strategies to prevent further deaths or at least to reduce. Is it available in any medical literature. Anybody has published these data?

Since the flu originated in the MEXICO & US. the publications and guidelines are generated there. Most of the indian bodies have followed same with indian modifications to minor extent.I think presently the proposed guidelines by govt. of INDIA should be universally followed (http://mohfw-h1n1.nic.in/). The guidelines are easy to follow at most remote places and do serve a purpose.
The guiding sites which health professionals should follow are :http://www.flu.gov/

I guess that Deccan plateau is worst affected. Also I find that more concentrations are there in down hill areas. Will it be related to some kind of plantation assisting in survival of the virus? Scientists can study the possibilities, with bio-echo systems in these areas.
